The Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association started as a can joint effort by Al Downing and the late Ernie Calhoun.  Ernie Calhoun is a renowned saxophonist and humanitarian from Tampa, Florida. In 1981 with the emergance from two jazz organizations in 1989 evolving to today providing jazz opportunities for enthusiasts throughout the Tampa Bay area.
